Dear Jane's 150th Anniversary in Nantes, France

Brenda could not be there, I'm sorry to say,

 but 110 of the most fantastic Dear Jane replicas from around the world were there.

The first photo is from the entrance,

pink and beautiful.

Here is a another way to use the blocks.

It was really amazing to enter a hall with over 100 DJ quilts.

I'm still in Nantes, and before I leave tomorrow I will take one more round.

CWB and spools

CWB block no 14 

This is my 12th block for this quilt.

It is growing - very slowly.

Chart for the Civil War Bride quilt.

Some "spools" from scraps have been sewn together.

And the 6th block from Gay at JustTakes2

This house is a bit different and I think I like it better this way.

Well now I'm off to Nantes, 

will post some pictures from the Exhibition soon.

Blocks of the month

Block number five is from Gay at the Sentimental stitches. 

Aurifil block of the month is called "Heart and Soul".

Strips and Scraps,

Using up some scraps and sewing 1" strips together

cut them into pieces to make spools blocks.

I just love this quilt form Edyta Sitar's book.

And this book came today.

Being a lover of Jane Austen's novels for many years, 

I would love to make that quilt.

This quilt is at the top of  my "To do list".

It will take some time to collect the fabrics and to find centre panel.

I'm really looking forward to work on this one.

Sweet Nostalgia and CWB block

Now at last, all blocks in place.

I'm thinking of hand quilting here, but how, what pattern

or just straight lines, I don't have a clue, yet.

Any suggestion?

This is my eleventh block for the Civil War Bride,

It is going slow but I will finish it, eventually.

I better get the next one prepared,

 it always takes some time to decide which one to do next.

Knitted shawl and DJ photos

It was impossible for me to decide which color to use for this shawl,

so I used them all. 

I think it turned out OK. 

I used NORO yarn. It is 100% wool from Japan,

It is a beautiful yarn.

Sweet Nostalgia

First three months of the year have been sewn together

This is January, February and March blocks from the Sweet Nostalgia quilt.

Designed by Dorothy Baker 

Now, this is the third block from March Aurifil Designer  

It is called "The Boxer Block" and designed  by Jeni Baker.

Funny - I just noticed that both designers have the same name,

coincidental!!!!!

So, when I have finished my cup of coffiee and my newly baked chocolate cake

I will turn my attention to 

"Just Take 2" block of the month.

Any of you doing that one????

By the way, the cake is a healthy one, 

with oil instead of butter, good quality cocoa

 and ground almonds instead of flour.

Decided to continue with the CWB blocks.

This one will be mine 10th so I'm half way.

It is called "Heavy Cross",

 not easy but fun to make, I used Aurifil Mako 50Wt.

I just love that thread.

Just Takes 2 2013 Schoolhouse Block

From Sentimental Stitches and Dear Jane.

I have always wanted to make a red and white quilt 

so I just jumped at this one.

I'm sure it will be fun.

Last night I started to prepare my Sweet Nostalgia blocks to be sewn together.

I can not say that this is my favorite fabric but it goes well 

with the stitched blocks.

We have a lot of snow and it is freezing outside,

perfect for sewing or some reading.

Dear Jane

Hello everyone!

THE Quilt is finished. I don't know if I'm relieved or sad.

(I might start another one soon)

124 blocks + one big appliqué in the middle, 28 triangles and 4 corners. 

The size is: 172 cm x 224 cm. 

Ca. three thousand and eight hundred pieces.

It is made from my hand dyed fabric.

Beautiful book

Today I received this beautiful gift from Lin 

a real treasure book. 

Lin won the give away I put on my blog last Autumn,

there were some difficulties with the post,

but all went well in the end.

Calendar Girls, + knitting

Now that the winter has arrived with snow - rain - wind and its darkness,  it's the perfect time for
 a story (a audiobook), sit in you favorite chair with a needle (knitting or sewing)
in hand and listen to a good story.

I have been listening to The House at Riverton (also known as The Shifting Fog) by Kate Morton.

A rich and engrossing story of love, passion, secrets and lies set in the gaiety, glamour and grand country houses of post-war Edwardian England.

Beautifully read by Caroline Lee.

Knitting Christmas presents!!!!

And doing some stitchery 

 few months behind - so what!!!!

I've also been quilting my Dear Jane, 

hopefully I can finish it when I get back home after Christmas.

Going to Iceland next week to celebrate Christmas with my family,

really looking forward to see them all.
